Back At It

I finally went for a run again last night. I mostly walked, as my PT told me to go back slowly. I hope exercise helps me with my parenting. I think it will help relieve the stress of dealing with a 3 year old on a daily basis. Went about 2 miles.

Well I got the all clear to start running again on Friday and haven't managed to get off my ass since then. I would have to say that my motivation disappeared. I guess I need to go over to Runner's World.com and do a little reading. Maybe that will get me up and at 'em.

out of commission

I've been a bit out of commission becuase of the knee injury. I went to the sports med. doc and he said something about my kneecaps not being aligned right and sent me to physical therapy. I have been doing a bit of walking, but not much else, other than last night I played with my wii fit for about an hour. Pretty fun and I was breaking out in a light sweat from some of it, but overall, not much of a serious workout. Still, it's better than sitting on the couch, right?

2 mile walk

Went on a 2 mile walk with George and the girls last night (the girls were in the stroller). I'm feeling a bit discouraged about the knees. I went to the running store Saturday and they told me that I had the wrong type of shoes (the type the running store told me to get in the past), so I bought a new pair of cushioned shoes. I guess my two pairs of stability shoes will be relegated to weekend wear. I haven't run since last Thursday and my knees are still sore. I can't believe that I actually feel motivated and excited about running and now I'm injured. I made an appointment with a sports medicine doctor for next Monday.

3 miles

George and I took the girls in the jog stroller this evening. We went about three miles, but believe me, we did not run the whole thing. My knees were really bothering me. At one point I said I felt like an old lady jogging, and George told me I looked like one. I'm a bit worried about the knee pain. It wasn't so bad on Tuesday, but was definitely worse today.

Improvement

Last evening I did two laps around the neighborhood (approximately 2 miles) without stopping! This makes me very happy. I really felt like I could have run another lap, but I wanted to get home before Madeline went to bed and it was getting dark and that makes me a bit nervous.

Falling Short

Well, it appears that my plan to exercise every day is not going as I hoped. In my defense people have been sick around my house (including me to a lesser degree) with rotavirus all week. Yippee! I did run today and I made it around the loop in my neighborhood (including the hill I hate) once without stopping, so that's an improvement. All in all, I ran/walked 3 miles, and I would say I ran about 2 1/4 of that.

Short report

I think I needed a break. I went for a short walk/jog alongside Madeline while she was riding her bike. She can really get to moving when she wants to. Anyway, my knees felt a bit tired/sore, so I'm putting off my planned run for tonight. I'll go in the morning with my still sick Lindley in the Chariot.

Run

I didn't much feel like doing the video today, so I went for a run/walk after dinner for 30 minutes. My run:walk ratio is getting better, i.e. I am running more. If I could just make it up this one hill in my neighborhood!

Getting stronger

I ran a mile today at lunch and walked another. I'm feeling pretty good about running a mile straight. I know it's not much to those who run a lot, but it's a start for this out of shape girl.

Talking big gets me every time. I did not exercise yesterday. I did walk about 2 miles today. I'm going to forget about it and move on. Congratulations to all who ran the Little Rock Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k today!

walk

Okay, I'm feeling pretty tired from my workout last night and so I just went for a short walk at lunch. Maybe I'll do some ab work tonight. . . maybe not. At least I got out of my chair today.

Video

I did my video last night.


The workout I did last night was the first one I did off the video last week and it was HARD! Lots of lunges and jumps and other stuff. I like this video because there are like 10 or 12 ten minute cardio segments and several ab segments and you can either pick and choose segments that you want to do, or use one of the pre-designed workouts that have several segments put together already. I think it keeps it from getting boring.

Wednesday - run

I went for a run/walk on the gym treadmill over lunch today. I went 2 miles total. Not the greatest, but I'm limited on time. Hopefully as I get more fit and can run more and more quickly I'll be able to get a 3 mile run in over lunch.

Tuesday - Video

Today I did 30 minutes of interval/ab work with my Post Natal Boot Camp tape by Lindsey Brin. It's pretty good and if I keep it up I think it will get me into pretty good shape. My plan, as of now, is to alternate doing this tape with running. Run Monday, Wednesday, Friday and one fo the weekend days, do the tape Tuesday, Thursday and the other weekend day. I think I really need to shoot for exercising every day or else I easily fall into a lazy state of being. We'll see how it goes.

Monday - walk

Today I went for a walk/run with Lindley in the Chariot. I was home with her as she had a fever the day before. I think I went between 2 and three miles. Sweet Pea fell asleep.
